Sensation Expands with Relaxation

The sensation of energy expands with increasing relaxation in Dahn Hak. Since there is no standard of relaxation for feeling energy, all you have to do is relax to the best of your ability and enjoy the journey into your inner world. Although the sensation might be too subtle to notice at first, nurture it carefully until it becomes palpable.

With your eyes open and body relaxed, stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Push your chest and shoulders out, and let your hands fall to your sides, palms facing up. Lift up your hands by bending at the elbows and concentrate on any sensation in your hands. When you are used to the flow of energy, you can maintain this sensation even with your eyes open and standing up.

Turn your palms over and lift your hands to shoulder level. Then, push your hands down toward the ground, feeling the weight of your fingers as if you are moving underwater. Combine #1 and #2 into one motion and repeat.

When you lift your arms, lift the heels of your feet at the same time. When you push your arms downward, lower your heels.

Now, slowly walk around. Take one step while raising your hands and take another while lowering them. When you get used to the motion, take two steps while raising your hands and so on…
