Being nice vs. kind?

I consider that being nice is a sort of disease, which makes us wear a mask. I choose to be true to myself and others rather than being “nice”. I’ve found that Ilchi Lee has a deep insight about being ”nice vs. kind” in his website at http://www.ilchi.com/ Ask Ilchi Lee section. I’d like to share with you.
“You really don’t have to be nice to everyone. What we call “nice” is really just based on our appearances to other people. It is all about manners and the judgments people make in that regard. On the other hand, being kind is about your heart and comes from the deepest sort of love for life. When we are being nice, we do so in order to look good so that others will not think we are bad. However, when we are genuinely kind, we are not focusing on ourselves. We are focusing on how can be truly good to other people….”
