Body-Brain Awareness

Posted by: Ilchi Lee

Children may not be aware at first that the brain either consciously or unconsciously controls everything that they do and feel. Tickle a child’s foot and ask him, “Where do you feel the tickle?” The child will probably say, “On my foot.” This is a chance to explain to the child how the brain is the place where the tickle is actually felt. If the foot is removed from the body, it can no longer send the tickle message to the brain. Likewise, all the body’s organs and muscles are connected to the brain, following its commands.

While it is true that the brain is “in charge” of the human body, it can also be said that the brain is useless without the body. The brain gives the orders, but it is the body that puts these orders into action. Brain Educator Ilchi Lee writes sometimes, we are not in conscious control of these actions—as in the beating of the heart or breathing while we sleep—but for the most part we have conscious control over our bodies’ movements. We can control our bodies because we can control our brains.

It is important, therefore, that children have a good basic understanding of the body and its functions. It is helpful to speak of the various organs of the body as “little brains,” organs that are in charge of specialized functions within the body. Through familiarity with various organs and their connection to the brain, children gain the ability to take charge of the body and its overall state of health.

Moving Bodies, Growing Brains

Author of content Ilchi Lee

Mr Ilchi Lee writes that just as you guide your children to create healthy habits for nutrition and cleanliness while they are young, guide them also to make physical movement part of their healthy lifestyle. As you may know from your own personal experience, it can be difficult to establish a habit of regular exercise in adulthood. If your child gains this habit now, it will be very firmly established in the actual circuitry of the brain, and he or she will naturally crave physical movement of all types, rather than avoid it as an unappealing chore.

The first section consists of a collection of basic stretching exercises for kids. These yoga-like movements are designed to open up the body’s joints, to stretch and strengthen the muscular system, and to promote relaxation. Exercises of this type are well suited to brain development because they require the child to use a wide variety of muscles ir unique combination. Any kind of exercise is good, but these are especially effective for creating a balanced and strong bodily structure while at the same time unity of the mind and body. And kids will become more aware of their own body as they gain flexibility and coordination. If you would like to adapt them to make them fun and appealing to your child, feel free to do so. The important thing is to move! Read Ilchi Lee’s articles here.

Surfing the Wave of Life

Posted by Ilchi Lee

NOW THAT YOU HAVE LEARNED to reconnect to the rhythm of your own body and mind through Brain Wave Vibration, you can view the universe as a vast ocean of endless possibility. Remember that your whole life is but a wave on that ocean. Your every thought and action adds momentum and direction to your wave. It is up to you to determine at which shore your life will arrive.

Approach your life the way a surfer faces the ocean. I have heard that a surfer must wipe out hundreds of times before ever having a really great ride. But all of those moments of failure teach the rider something about balance—not really something you could write in a book but a feeling, a way of harmonizing with the wave. If you seek this sort of harmony with everything . life brings, there can be no failure.

Jang-saeng Walking

Walking is a natural way to bring rhythmic vibrations to your body, which perhaps is why it is so healthful and refreshing. With every step, you send a wave of energy through your body. Jang-saeng Walking capitalizes on this by adjusting the posture of the body for ideal energy flow. The word janq-iacn means “longevity,” and that is what this exercise is meant to produce.

1. Walk with feet parallel while putting strength on Yong-chun, an energy point located at the ball of the foot, and on the toes.

2. Tuck the tailbone upward and tighten your lowrer abdomen. As you walk, lean forward slightly, tilting forward about one degree.

3. Walk with an open chest. Breathe naturally into the abdomen, being sure to exhale completely.

4. Walk with a bright smile. Walk with a sense of purpose and forward momentum.

5. Swing both arms freely as you walk.

6. Feel subtle vibrations spreading throughout the soles, chest, and the entire body. Read more by Mr Ilchi Lee………
